چکیده

In this paper the use of a HTS SQUID magnetometer for quantitative measurements in eddy current NDE is presented. The SQUID is used in absolute rather than in gradiometric mode and the magnetic field measurements are directly compared to theoretical results. The measurements are taken in an ambient noise environment and the excitation has the form of a double-rectangle Printed Circuit Board coil. The configurations examined involve the coil in air and above Aluminum plates with or without defects in the form of long through-thickness slots. The agreement between experimental and theoretical results is very good showing that model-based calculations and optimizations of SQUID magnetometers are feasible.

Optimal SQUID based non-destructive test for detecting sub-surface defects with the help of advanced SQUID superconducting sensors and an experimental approach for optimal production method of these sensors from the YBCO superconductor materials

The conventional eddy current method for non-destructive inspection of welding joints has limitations that can examine defects to a certain depth below the surface of the sample and is not suitable for determining deep defects. This limitation can be overcome using the SQUID superconducting sensors. The nonstoichiometric composition of YBCO due to its superconducting temperature and desired cri...

Defect Detection and Classification using a SQUID based multiple Frequency Eddy Current NDE System

Abstruc+The probability of detection (POD) of hidden fatigue defects in riveted multilayer joints, e.g. aircraft fuselage, can be improved by using sophisticated eddy-current systems which provide more information than conventional NDE equipment. In order to collect this information, sensor arrays or multi-frequency excitation schemes can be used. We have performed simulations and measurements ...
